Artist Statement

Nan Rumpf / Water Media Artist nanrumpf@gmail.com Nan Rumpf has studied painting with Susan Swinand, Charles Reid, Miles Batt, and Cheng Khee Chee. Her paintings have been exhibited at the Danforth Museum in Framingham, The Center for Arts in Natick, The Concord Art Association Gallery, Art on the Common in Needham, the Attleboro Arts Museum, The Art Show in Clinton, Plymouth Center for the Arts, the Arts Complex Museum in Duxbury, the Community Center in Wellesley, New England Watercolor Society Shows in Cotuit and Gloucester, and the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury. She recently had a painting accepted into the American Watercolor Society’s International Juried Exhibition in New York City. Her artworks have won numerous awards including in juried national exhibits. Her painting Accumulations was featured as one of the Best in Watercolor 2021 in the winter 2022 issue of Watercolor Artist Magazine She has provided instruction as a visiting artist at Framingham State, at Medfield High School and taught a Professional Development workshop for Framingham public school teachers. She is currently teaching online Zoom art classes and is providing in person demos and workshops to various Massachusetts art groups. She is an exhibiting artist and board member of the Wellesley Society of Artists, and a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society. Nan works with water media and enjoy experimenting with different methods to obtain accidental texture. I am attempting to capture the essence of forms and shapes from my observations, memories, and imaginings.
