Artist Statement

Painting allows me to revisit the places I’ve traveled, places that have left an impression, places that touch my imagination and make me wonder what was or could have been. The landscapes that inspire me are those that give me pause. I know I’ve found my inspiration when my mind begins to contemplate all the possibilities of a new found terrain. Although I admire traditional landscape artists, I strive to create works that are more contemporary, so the viewer can make their own interruptions of the subject and of nature’s phenomena. I’ve worked several series --My latest body of work is called “Pondering”. Impressionistic reflections of water inspired by a combination of hikes in the White Mountains and visits to Klimt in Manhattan and Vienna.
