Artist Statement
Hi! I’m Richard of RAT Glass, a Providence-based glassblower. I use flameworking techniques drawing from American folk art such as gold and silver fuming and Venetian glass techniques like reticello to make glass art that is both functional and beautiful. Before becoming a glassblower, I was trained as an aerospace engineer, and my work plays with concepts of precision, fluid dynamics and light that draw on my technical background while at the same time striving for evocative and modern shapes and color.
