Artist Statement
Ruth Slotnick – Ceramics Ruth’s love for clay began in the early 1990s, and working with it remains a grounding counterbalance to the demands of academia. The creative process offers a welcome break—hands in the clay, shaping, refining, and embracing the unpredictable nature of the material. Each piece is a conversation between maker and medium, where form, function, and surface come together. Like anything well-loved and well-used, ceramics have their own lifetime, evolving with use and bearing the marks of the hands that made them and those who bring them into their daily lives.
